As I think I may have mentioned before, if you can, check out the ‘independents’ first rather than just buy from the major ‘chain stores’, you will pretty much always get a better price on MTG products. For example, booster packs can be picked up for around $5 (or less) at most games/card/book stores that sell magic, go into a chain store and you will often find prices on boosters >$6.
While I was driving around, not only did I pop over to Toys R Us in the Mic Mac Mall to get some Ultra-Pro Pocket Pages to keep my booster pack cards in, but I figured that I would swing by another Zellers in Dartmouth (at Colby Village Shopping Center off Cole Harbour Road) to see what MtG stock they carry.
Their cards are kept over near the DVD\Electronics counter and they had a few Worldwake boosters, a Worldwake Intro deck, a solitary Zendikar booster and I also noticed that had some Ultra-Pro Pocket Pages albums which included 100 pages. Unfortunately, their prices are not clearly displayed (something I also noticed at the other Zellers I checked out at the weekend).
I also discovered that Dollarama, at the Tacoma Centre off Main Street, stock deck protectors (the heavy-duty type) in their hockey cards section.
So, it turned out to be, quite an interesting trip around Dartmouth today.
I was taking a stroll around Mic Mac Mall in Dartmouth, this morning, and thought I would take a look in Toys R Us as they have a separate section for electronic items, DVD’s, electronic games and some trading cards. At first look MtG was pretty thin on the ground just a few booster packs for the Worldwake expansion. So, when a helpful assistant asked me what I was looking for, I pointed to the cards and said, “do you have any other Magic stuff?”. The assistant went behind the counter and uncovered a box from the back of the counter that was obscured by some packaging. “We have these”, she said, and then proceeded to show me all five Intro Packs from Worldwake. Suffice to say I left the store with the decks I was after, along with some deck protectors, which they also stock.
Later on I discovered that the Zellers store, in the same mall, also had a handful of Worldwake booster packs at the front of the cash tills at the back of the store on the ground floor. They were in amongst all the Pokemon stuff along with some deck and card protectors.
The quest continues….
